Our friends at The Sandusky State Theatre, a 90-year-old landmark in Ohio, wanted to transform their main stage with new curtains. They wanted the design to both bring the stage to life and capture the theatre’s rich heritage. Inspired by photos of the theatre’s interior architecture, we designed a curtain that incorporated a prominent curvilinear architectural detail that appeared on the walls near the stage.
We chose to replicate the architectural detail at the bottom of a pleated drape, which presented an interesting production challenge. How do you get the pattern applique to display appropriately, despite the fullness sewn into the curtain? Our technical team developed several renderings of the project, and then several physical mock-ups, before obtaining final design approval.
Rose Brand Inc. led the customer through the entire design, specification and build of this project. The job was a collaborative effort between the client and our sales team, design team, technical department, sewing shop and senior management. It’s a great example of how Rose Brand provides turnkey solutions to custom needs.
