VectraTex™ introduces a new approach to projection surfaces by offering five incrementally calibrated neutral-grey screens, VGC 1 through VGC 5, each designed  to balance gain and contrast with far greater versatility than can be found with traditional white, grey or black PVC screens. Instead of forcing designers to compromise based on limited color options, VectraTex™ gives them the freedom to specify the exact surface their project requires - whether optimizing brightness in a high-ambient environment or deepening blacks and saturation in a controlled space.

 

 

 

Because VectraTex™ is fabric-based rather than PVC, it’s lightweight, wrinkle-resistant, inherently flame-retardant, and easy to install or store. The calibrated grey system is available across Front Projection, Rear Projection, Blockout, and Mesh surfaces, ensuring visual consistency for any design requirement.

VectraTex™ Selection Guide

The choice of which color to select is a subjective design decision, but the keys factors are projector brightness and the amount of ambient light in the room.  The following chart provides some guidance for balancing the various drivers of your design  and choosing a screen that will provide the best image possible.

 

 

Of course other factors may come into play based on the specific needs of your production, so this chart should only be a starting point in the process.  For example, you may want the darkest screen (VGC-5), in order to be least obvious to your audience when there is no projection on; or you may want the maximum gain possible (VGC-1), even sacrificing contrast and color saturation.  Sample cards are available to help you make the best choice for your project.

 

VectraTex™ Installation Guide

For all installations, mount the screen with the GREY surface facing the audience.

 

1) Hung from a batten or pipe 

Like a traditional backdrop, VectraTex™ can be tied to a static or flown batten using webbing, grommets and tieline (or bungees/BongoTies/zip ties where appropriate). For best results, specify an open bottom hem to accept a ½" pipe—this adds weight and helps keep the surface smooth and wrinkle-free. Side finish is typically a simple hem, but your needs may differ (for example, rear projection). If you’re unsure, contact a Rose Brand product consultant for recommendations.

 

2) Mounted to a frame (freestanding, wall-mounted, or suspended) 

VectraTex™ screens can be made to fit many frame types: 

• SEG frames: Clean “infinity edge” perimeter with no visible attachment. Screen is produced with the required silicone edge gasket. 

• Custom wood or metal frames (tube steel/aluminum): Common attachment methods include: 

• • grommets on all sides for lacing/tying/bungees 

• • hook-and-loop tape (loop sewn to screen; hook adhered to frame) 

• • staple-wrapping to wood frames (stapled from the rear)
  • Rose Brand’s Span Frame system can create oversized frames spanning up to 20' without internal bracing. 

• AV folding / “Fast Fold” frames: Screens can be produced with matched snap placement. Provide the frame (or a template) for accurate layout.  

 

3) Mounted to a motorized roller (roll drum) 

Motorized roller systems are available in a wide range of widths (often roughly 8'–39'). VectraTex™ screens can be manufactured to attach to these mechanisms. For an existing roller, contact a Rose Brand product consultant to confirm the specifications required.  

 

4) Suspended from a traveler track 

VectraTex™ can be hung from a curtain track, but it must be properly tensioned to achieve a smooth projection surface. This may include maintaining line tension, adding corner tie-off points to tension the bottom hem, and potentially using vertical side battens and lateral tension cords. For best results, review the details with a Rose Brand product consultant before fabrication.
