Coatings can be used to give scenery texture and depth. They can add a hard surface to sculptures and carvings made of soft materials like foam so that they can withstand the rigors of production. Some resins can create structure of the scenic elements as well. Coatings combined with scenic paint and surface treatments elevate the realistic feel of the scenery.
